The SWTOR official forums are sometimes an excellent source of player-created guides, featuring every type of guide from flashpoint and operations guides, to class guides, role-playing guides, PvP guides, lore guides, and even guides for all of the collectors in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Vanity pet collectors, here’s one for you!

Due to the old one not being updated in a long while, I offered to remake it as to keep up to date with pets for those who care. If you have no interest in pets…well, don’t post :P No reason to flame or anything, okay? Please also do not troll the thread. This really is to help people and false information is just…never helpful.

For research threads, there are The Orobird Thread, Tauntaun Thread, and Other Misc. Pets. However, you’re welcome to research here instead too. Mostly those are there to read through or archives–however, the Tauntaun Thread has a lovely list of people who can make the Ice Scrabbler Jerky for you! Now, onto the guide.

The guide can be found here: Vanity Pets Guide

It’s an updated version of a few threads I originally mentioned in my Laura Shot Third: Pet Lover Resources column back in April.

Special thanks to the creator of this awesome guide, and happy hunting!

Just in case you haven’t done the quest yet to grab the Crimson Rakling– your very own red rakghoul vanity pet– now’s your chance to find out how! The Rakghoul event will continue until Monday night, so there’s still plenty of time to complete the quest chain.

First things first, let’s head to Tatooine. The quest requires you to discover a few things in either Mos Illa or Anchorhead, whichever perspective side you’re a part of. Make sure and do these first few discovery parts together, because afterwards, you’ll get a buff that allows you to grab the actual quest needed. Once that quest is received, however, you’re free to take your time collecting the fragments. Let’s begin, shall we?

One benefit of choosing the Light Side or Dark Side is the availability to purchase vanity pets. Each fleet houses both a LS and DS vendor who sells one pet each for 25,000 credits. All Light Side players will be able to purchase a Little SandCrawler from their vendors, regardless of whether they have aligned themselves with the Empire or Republic. On the other side of the spectrum Dark Side players can acquire an Interrogation Droid. To purchase either pet players will need to reach tier III, which is +/- 4000 points.

l2-p2Combing through database sites and internet search engines hasn’t provided much information regarding vanity pets in SWTOR. There appears to only be about 15 known vanity pets currently, and most of those have little to no information about them listed. Some even list what appears to be outdated or incorrect information. However there are a few pets that we can be certain of.
