Damage Dealing Header

I’ve learned how to DPS from some of the best in the business.

Operations groups are like Race Cars. Tanks are the Wheels, Healers are the Engine, and DPS is the Fuel. – Panzer

Ferrari’s only have one speed boss, fast. – Chavala

If I pull aggro off the Tanks, I know I’m doing my job. – Dr. Grokk Smash

As an Ops leader I’d rather tell my guys to slow down Damage than ask for more. That’s why if you plan to become a DPS Ops member, only have one speed. Top Speed.

Double XP Header

… and they stack with all current in game XP buffs.

Bring out your Alts *bang* Bring out your Alts *bang* Bring out your Alts!

The info between the lines is a better lock down for the Patch 2.0 release. They have 4 weeks of Double XP gains lined up, I would venture to predict that 2.0 will be out in less than six weeks.

FIRST EVER DOUBLE XP WEEKENDS

In anticipation for the Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, earn Double XP and level your characters faster to Level 50 during the following weekends:

  • March 15, 2013 to March 18, 2013
  • March 22, 2013 to March 25, 2013
  • March 29, 2013 to April 1, 2013
  • April 5, 2013 to April 8, 2013

Achieve even faster gains with XP Boosts, which also double and are available in the Cartel Market!

Don’t worry if you have already hit Level 50, your Legacy XP will also double – so jump in now! (All Double XP Weekends begin Fridays at 1:00PM CDT / 6:00PM GMT and end Mondays at 2:00AM CDT / 7:00AM GMT.)

I am also of the mind set that the Gree Event and stellar Cartel Pack that dropped yesterday is a direct result of SC2′s release. What better way to keep your community involved than releasing new goodies?

Bolster your characters and advance to Level 50 quicker with first ever Double XP weekends as you prepare to continue your adventure in the first Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, coming this Spring with 5 new levels and a brand new planet, Makeb! Starting Friday March 15th, all players will be able to log in to The Old Republic™ and receive twice the amount of XP every weekend until April 8, 2013. Don’t worry if you’ve already hit Level 50. Your Legacy XP will double too!

My understanding of the system is that all of our boosts will multiple from the new base of 200%, so now is the perfect time to get those Legacy perks and XP boosts. I will show you why.

Let’s say you planned to level during the March to Makeb entirely through… Flashpoints.

200% base experience
+25% Flashpoint Boost
+30% Flashpoint Legacy perk

*THIS BONUS DOES NOT STACK WITH RESTED EXPERIENCE

Since both of the boosts are being applied to double base XP, they are also doubled. Do you know what that means?!

+310% bonus experience! That is over triple the experience. Enjoying your leveling my friends!

TLDR, yes they stack and for the math nerds it is multiplicative on top of the new base of 200% (assuming I understood it all correctly)

Frontline Medic Header

A good healer knows it’s their abilities that keeps the team pushing content. They also decide who watches the fight face down in the decking. Wednesdays is a good time to discuss Healing Pro Tips. You can check out the Healing 101 guide here.

I’ve yet to come across a number for Sorc/Sage absorb shields and, all it says on mouse over is ‘High Amount’. I can personally attest it’s thousands of points worth of damage at max level, but I’ve seen many new Sorc / Sage Healers pass the ability up because of the unknown.

Whoa, looks like the Gree Relics event went over well. It’s coming back tomorrow! It also seems there is a mount on the vendor this go round.

Along with the Gree Relics event, there is a huge Embargo being smacked down on the Cartel Market.

I wonder when it is too… OH WAIT I KNOW!

Here are the details! Game update 1.7.2 is going live with tomorrow morning’s maintenance! That’s right, you will be playing the Gree Event once again within 24 hours. Also since I know this will come up, the Gree Event will be running from March 12th – March 26th.

There are some other things I wanted to keep all of you apprised of as well. Aside from the Golden Scalene Armor being embargoed from the Cartel Market, so are a few other items. They are:

  • Dire Taskmaster’s Robe
  • Dire Overlord’s Vestments
  • Dire Warmaster’s Body Armor
  • Dire Eliminator’s Chestguard
  • Guard Captain’s Chestplate
  • CZ-27k Stealth Ops Suit
  • CZ-18x Avalanche Chestplate
  • Honored Master’s Vestments
  • Honored Champion’s Robe
  • Honored Sabarist’s Harness
  • Honored Adept’s Shroud
  • MA-52 Med-tech Chestplate
  • Emergency Responder’s Overcoat
  • MA-53 Overwatch Chestplate
  • Jawagram “I Love You”
  • Jawagram “It’s A Surprise”

One last thing I wanted to tease… Make sure you check out the Gree Event vendor. You will see what I think is the coolest looking mount in our game to date. Like, seriously it is amazing.

Point of View Header

A battle hardened Knight once said, “…many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.”
Sundays seem to be a good day to give mine.

The market is crashing and groups are hard to find. Guild members are no where to be found and General Chat is worse than ever. This is all completely normal Comrades. The galaxy is experiencing a Pre Xpac low.

PvP Header Refined

I tweeted last week about playing Warzones in SWTOR. The comment was “If you can’t tell who the rookie is, it’s you.” With that mind set, I held my head high and carried the rookie tag with pride. Needless to say I took many blaster bolts to the cranium.

There is hope though, fellow rookie Warzone adventurers! It is safe to say my skills have improved and there is a definite PvP future in my playtime. Keep reading for all the gory details of my Warzone experience.

The Devs are busy today throwing around tid-bits of info about upcoming features and current in-game issues. What caught my eye were the specific timeline announcements of player requested features.

Companions Cannot Wear Gree Armor | 03.05.2013, 06:08 PM

Hi there,

I wanted to stop in and give you an update about this issue. We have a fix implemented to be deployed with the next patch (1.7.2) that will allow your companions to wear gear earned via Galactic Reputation.

As with any fix, testing could provide us with information that requires a delay, so please know that time frames are always intended but never promised. Thanks for your patience on this!

[Request] Ready Check? | 03.05.2013, 05:24 PM

I know ready check is something that you folks have been looking forward to for a while and so I wanted to give an update.

Currently, development is near complete on ready check for SWTOR! Right now, it is slated for Game Update 1.7.3 but know that it still has to pass QA along with some other things so it is entirely possible it could come out after 1.7.3.

I am going to do my best to give actual timing on features like this when I can just please be understanding that timing, as in the example above, is entirely subject to change. As long as you can all remain understanding of this, I can give more specifics than we have in the past.

Reading between the lines of these updates, we can reliably say that patch 2.0 is weeks away from release. We are sitting on patch 1.7.1, they have scheduled at least two more patches to come out before Scum and Villainy go live.

I have personally been playing the PTS, and it’s worth waiting for. The changes made to combat and the overall feel are top-notch. It just can’t get here soon enough.

The Latest Buzz

As seen at swtor-rp.com in their interview with Damion Schubert and Charles Boyd, it seems that Old Republic fans will be getting what they’ve been asking for.

SWTOR-RP: Player-created characters are altered and changed in different ways, and sometimes this means cosmetically. Will we be seeing a ‘barber shop’ in the upcoming expansion?

Damion Schubert: A feature which scratches this itch is in active development right now, but will not be part of Rise of the Hutt Cartel. But this should get to you sooner than you think!

Read the whole interview here.

Relics of the Gree Header

Round one of the Gree event is almost over.  Tonight when maintenance occurs the event will be over until the Devs bring it back.  We have been told this is a reoccurring event, so fear not young Jedi.

Your greatest on the PTS is getting started, this primer should set you up in no time. Downloading the full PTS 2.0 Client will take some time. I suggest starting the download before you hit the sack or heading to work/school.
