BioWare released the third developer blog in the Companions 101 series yesterday, which focuses on the beloved Sith Warrior Twi’lek companion, Vette. Vette shoots firsts and asks questions later, but she’s never afraid to speak exactly what’s on her mind when she does get around to asking questions. Her story in Star Wars: The Old Republic is a rather unique one, due to the fact that she joins the Sith Warrior as a prisoner. Her fate is left in the hands of the player, but despite her situation, Vette makes the best of it with her headstrong attitude and fierce loyalty that eventually seeds its way into the underlying story.

Sean McKeever, one of SWTOR’s writers, answered a few questions in the article about Vette. Here’s one that delves into her reasons for sticking close the Sith Warrior’s side, even when the two seem to come from entirely different worlds:

Vette is all about the extremes. When she likes something, she expresses it immediately. If she is angry at someone, she will flare and snap at them. She will always let the Warrior know how she feels about a decision or the situation, which can be a delight or a pain. If you want to gain Vette’s trust and respect, keep in mind that her three biggest dislikes are needless cruelty, suppressing the weak, and anti-alien sentiment. Since the Empire is known for committing all three of these, it is no surprise that she has little love for the Sith and Imperials. So what are her motivations to help a Sith Lord? I asked Sean why he thinks Vette sticks around:

“Can you say “shock collar?” But even though they start out as master and servant, hopping from planet to planet with the Warrior reminds Vette of her days as an artifact hunter. That was the only time she was ever really free, exploring the galaxy and getting into trouble with a gang of fellow Twi’leks who would become her closest friends.

Of course, all this adventuring together can easily spark a deep kinship between the Warrior and Vette. As the Warrior becomes more of a factor in her life, she won’t be able to help but want the Warrior to succeed.”

To find out what makes Vette tick and grab some screenshots and wallpapers featuring this Twi’lek companion, check out BioWare’s latest Companions 101 developer blog.

As more and more MMOs’ release, it is evident that World of Warcraft’s success has been an anomaly. Remember when SWTOR was strutted as the next “WoW killer?” But ultimately a large exodus occurred, and layoffs followed. Many have since begun questioning the success of any subscription based MMO to follow. If Bioware is struggling with a subscription model when they have the biggest IP you can attach to an MMO, what hope is there for any other MMO that follows the same model? Essentially, Bioware needs to convert to the Free-to-Play model if they want to increase their profit and player base.

This week’s “The Galaxy is Yours” is the conclusion of the exploration of lightsaber forms in The Old Republic. Last week spotlighted Shii-Cho, Soresu and Ataru forms as well as the kinds of characters who would be attracted to using those forms. This week covers the final two in the game: Shien and Juyo. Jump past the cut to continue the journey.

At the forefront of every battle, a charge is led. Leading that charge falls into the hands of the man or woman most capable of defending the lives of their teammates and commanding the entire battlefield. Some prefer to command with the raw, brutal strength of the Force, and wield its power within their sabers. Heavy armor, a myriad of deadly close-combat moves, and pure strength are all that these Sith require to obtain victory.

Forget the fancy magic, pretty robes, jet packs, and blasters safely hidden behind cover– Sith Warriors are in the faces of their enemies, slicing them into two, and readying the next charge. These Warriors are known as Juggernaut tanks. They are SWTOR’s answer to the defensive heavily-armed melee warrior who survives on strength and physical prowess alone.

Leaping into the midst of battle, a high-leveled Sith Juggernaut is able to control every facet of battle. An aspiring Juggernaut has a long journey ahead of them, and every journey starts at the beginning. In this guide’s first installment, that’s where we’ll start– with levels 1-20.

Hi guys,

There are many different subjects discussed in this thread and I would like to take the opportunity to give you some information on the topics at hand.

First off, we currently have no indication that any class needs a huge buff. Class balance is defined by the interaction between classes and changes we make to one class will, inevitably, move the balance towards or from other classes. Our data and testing currently indicates that the Juggernaut and Guardian AC could use some buffing up in two areas where we see them underperforming against our expectations.

Choose your Empire Class

So, you’ve played through a beta weekend or two, you’ve got a good idea on what class you want to play but you’re struggling to make your mind up! Welcome to the club my friend, probably the most asked questions I’ve seen on the official SW:TOR forums are “Which class is the most fun?”, “Which class should I choose?” and “Which class is the best at X,Y or Z?”. In this small editorial, my plan is to give a small appraisal of each class for the Empire, what its strengths and weaknesses are and which roles they can fill.
