Players attempting to go full light side or full dark side might be reluctant to make even one choice that differs, afraid those 50 LS or DS points might stay on their character’s permanent record forever. Others might have heard that there is a 10,000 point cap that makes it impossible to earn additional points, thus making Tier V unattainable if you have ever deviated from your path. Have no fear! Making the occasional choice of the reverse alignment should not affect your score in any significant way.

It is true there is a 10,000 point cap. However, each time you make a choice after that it simply deducts points from the opposite spectrum. This means that by making more choices of your alignment after reaching the cap, you are able to effectively erase all record of previous adverse choices. It is quite possible to reach 10,000 points by your mid-40′s, so as long as you stay near the light or dark path you should reach Tier V easily enough.

Jedi and Sith, Choosing Sides

Within The Old Republic we have been told and shown how several quests, flashpoints, most likely end game raid content will have light or dark side choices. Everyone can go as far into or away from either alignment within the game. There are a few things I’ve been curious about regarding this system in the game. The first is what it will be like to play a Dark sided Republic player, or a Light sided Imperial player? The second is what the differences will be for force users and non force users in terms of what exactly is “light” or “dark” for them? Lastly, how much will people assume that Light side is Republic and Dark side is Imperial in terms of what the “canon” choice might be?
