Last Friday, BioWare updated their Free to Play announcement page with rewards for players who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition. When SWTOR goes free to play, these players, if their subscriptions are active at the time, will obtain an additional 250 Cartel Coins. This bonus is in addition to any other monthly subscription or current subscription Coin bonuses. A dev tracker response on Friday also noted that players who purchased more than one edition of SWTOR on an individual account due to discounts, etc., will be receiving all bonuses.

BioWare also announced the free-to-play Fan Favorite Reward pet that subscribers from August 1st 2012 to the game’s free-to-play launch will be getting– the Party Jawa! Here is the announcement:

“BioWare and LucasArts are excited to announce that “The Party Jawa” has won our Fan Favorite voting contest. Over the past month, our Facebook Fans have had the opportunity to choose a favorite item to receive as a reward when Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ launches its new Free-to-Play option this Fall. Although it was hard to pick a favorite, The Party Jawa won by an overwhelming majority! The Party Jawa celebrates a player’s status as a veteran of the galaxy with a unique and fun animation. The Party Jawa will be rewarded to current or previous subscribers as of August 1 and who are active subscribers when the Free-to-Play option launches.”

When SWTOR adopts its hybrid free-to-play model this fall, it was announced on Tuesday that owners of the Collector’s Edition will be receiving some extra goodies. Quite a bit of goodies, in fact– 1000 extra Cartel Coins as long as their paid subscription is still active, and a Heroes’ Banner. After this announcement, many players wondered why those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of SWTOR weren’t getting any bonuses. After all, they paid more for the game than owners of the Standard Edition, and the extra money went toward digital items. Why wasn’t there a bonus offered?

With the recent unboxing of the Collector’s Edition, I’m sure many fans have a fairly good idea of which edition they are planning to get. And though I have already made my decision to pre-order the Collector’s Edition, there are still many out there who are unsure if the $150 price tag is worth it for them, or if they would be better off with the Digital Edition, or simply preordering it from their local Gamestop or Best Buy. Let’s explore the options we have available, and see if we can’t help narrow down your decision.
