On December 20th, Star Wars: The Old Republic will be celebrating its first anniversary. As part of the celebration, BioWare will be sending all players with valid accounts 25 bundles of complimentary faction-based fireworks. These fireworks will be mailed out on December 11th, which gives players plenty of time to celebrate in style and light up the skies. As part of SWTOR’s anniversary, BioWare is also planning to show off some of the best moments from the celebrations by showcasing community screenshots on the official website and over Facebook.

More information regarding the community showcases will be provided in the coming days. For the full news article, make sure to check out BioWare’s announcement of the anniversary.

This week’s Q&A is out and we have plenty of questions regarding ranked warzones, group finder and many other things regarding patch 1.3. Keep reading for the full Q&A.

Most of us by now are well aware of the negativity that hovers over the official SWTOR forum community. It’s difficult to avoid disgruntled fans while diving into any random forum topic these days. Many of the complaints these players bear are justified, of course, but there seems to be one common thread among most of the complaints– most of them hit on the fact that BioWare’s community forums need more communication from BioWare.

Within the past months, while we’ve waited around for news regarding Game Update 1.3, we’ve received very little feedback from the community management team, and thus, the developers. We still don’t know many details about the important features we’re anxiously awaiting. What details have been revealed have all been fairly vague, and the worst part– we, the SWTOR fanbase, sometimes find out more by searching around on fansites, gaming news sites, and social media places like Twitter than we do on our own forums.

This week’s Q&A tackles a ton of questions regarding patch 1.3. We’ve taken one question out regarding the upcoming LFG tool and Daniels reiteration of it being only server only right now.

Mallorik: What is your philosophy on cross server LFG tools? Are we getting a same server tool just to hold us over while you work on cross server tech or is this just a test to see if a same server tool will do the job?

Daniel: Although we’re certainly willing to entertain the idea of cross-server LFG tools if the need arises, it’s a last resort for us. We firmly believe for cooperative play it is important to have a community and social responsibility that you simply can’t have with players appearing and disappearing from your reality. Instead we are pushing hard on servers that are massive compared to the ones we launched with. Early tests show we’ll be able to raise the peak concurrent user cap above what it was at launch. Combining that with server transfers to enable players to move to these new servers and fill them to the brim, we should see some fantastic, vibrant communities develop where Group Finder will always be able to find someone for your content.

Read the rest of the Q&A over at SWTOR’s community blog.

Developers say things.  But sometimes they say things that make you stop and go, “WTF?!”  In recent interviews at the Guild Summit George Zoeller and Daniel Erickson said the following:

Georg Zoeller: (Source) We’re also hoping that by giving people access to the combat log, they actually get a better sense. Look at sithwarrior.com, for example. They say a lot of theories that are just plain wrong, and to be fair, how would you know better?

Daniel Erickson: (Source) They want to surface a huge amount of the information for the game. They want to be a place that you can trust the source, that they can feed stuff out so we have a standardization so people know where things are going there. I think the long term plan is sort of to be the one stop resource for all of your questions and anything that you actually want to know or need to find out how you’re going to figure out about The Old Republic.

There are some very interesting things you can take away from these quotes when looking at them together:

  • Dev’s actively research and monitor player theory crafting of their game.
  • They have plans to centralize the game community so players can come to them for game information.
  • They are aware of respected sources having incorrect information and don’t always inform the player base.

Every week BioWare puts out a Q&A session to answer player questions.  But occasionally BioWare will say something that might require you to read between the lines.  That’s what I’m here for.  This week’s Q&A can be found HERE for all of the questions and answers in their entirety.

But if you want to learn about the things not expressly said, or learn about what other interviews and posts tie into these answers to paint a larger picture, then you have to click that “Continue Reading” button.  That’s just how this works.

I am working on a project where I am looking for people in the community interested in getting together to talk about the advanced class you will be playing upon release. The overall plan will be a sixteen part special that will be hosted here on Force Junkies

I am not looking to discuss the things going on in beta or information that is sourced from any leak sites. The main thrust of this project is to get all the information we know about each advanced class and talk about it. This is about getting people together, having fun, and getting a little more pumped up for the game.

If you’re interested please hop on over to the thread on the Official Forums to read more. The best way to sign up is to do so there so that way I can contact you using the private message system.

If you have any specific questions you can always contact me at Laughter@Rerollz.com.
