“There’s Merc’s in them there hills.”

The Outlaw’s Den was intended to be an active world PvP zone but became just another part of the desert when the designers removed all of the loot. Now the Mercenary Commendations are back and I’ve got the guide on how to get them.

For those not familiar with The Outlaw’s Den, it is a free-for-all PvP zone. You can attack, and be attacked by, anyone not in your party. There is an entrance for each faction. In the middle of the area is a building with an auction house and mailbox almost begging people to let their guard down. There are also 3 PvP vendors scattered around who sell unique speeders.

Ever wonder where you can buy PVP Gear and what commendations do what? Do you know what a Champion Set is versus a Battlemaster Set? If you want a quick shakedown of how the whole system works then keep reading!

You can buy Merc tokens with WZ tokens at a 3:1 ratio. You can buy a champion gear bag with 200WZ + 200 Merc. That bag is unique and you can’t open it till 50. The level 50 PvP daily lets you choose a Champion bag or a Battlemaster bag. The Battlemaster bag is unique and you can’t buy it. You also can’t open it without a very high valor rating.

So you can’t stockpile any of the bags because they are unique. If you aren’t 50 yet then you should buy merc badges till you have 1000. After that buy lvl 40/50 blue gear or go back to questing. You need high valor level in the end though so you can keep pvping for xp if you want.

Keep reading after the break for a quick and easy breakdown.

Veteran MMO players jumping in to The Old Republic for the first time will find a familiar gaming landscape. But with that familiarity comes an attitude of “been there, know that.” This can lead to overlooking the changes and additions that might just change the experience to a negative perception. To make sure no one misses something helpful, or important, presented here is a list of eight things new players should be aware of. These “features” might not deserve an entire article devoted to each of them, but they certainly deserve some attention.
