In 1.2, the following things will happen:

1) The cost for training will go down across all tiers.
2) The cost for tier 3 speeder models will go up across the board.
3) Certain landspeeder models will be removed from the game (the ones on sale right now).

The net result will be a significant reduction in level-up license training costs as well as a measurable reduction in the acquisition of your level 50 speeder. Purchasing additional speeders at level 50 will be more expensive, something you could call a luxury tax

TL;DR: If you want to game the system and save money, buy your tier 3 speeder now and wait to get the corresponding license after 1.2 goes live.

Don’t forget to spend your Fleet Commendations! As you complete Space Missions (especially the daily “Operation” missions) you can earn these special commendations that can be exchanged for a wide variety of unique upgrades and orange level social gear. The vendor for these items is on the Fleet, in a cubby across from the GTN. At first the offerings may seem underwhelming and unnecessary, but rather quickly the difficulty of the missions ramps up and using the various commendation rewards can significantly aid you. There are four unique starship upgrades that you can use:

You’re plugging along, enjoying some rail shooting worthy of the Rogue Squadron series when all of a sudden you hit a brick wall. For the Republic it’s a mission called Drexel Sweep, a horrendous barrage of TIE Interceptors and asteroids; a neverending blitzkrieg of searing green doom. You look away from the screen for a mere moment only to get shredded by more ships than you thought your system could even render. For the first time, depressing the left mouse button and flying in lazy circles simply won’t cut it. It’s time to learn how to make the most of SWTOR’s space combat.

We’re going to start by exposing two important facts that the game never really tells you:

1) Your shields only regenerate when you’re not firing your blasters. This means that unless you’re actively killing something, you shouldn’t be firing at all. Missiles do not count against this, so if you’re desperate for shields but still need to kill a mission critical target, missiles will get the job done.

2) Targets that emit blue circles when hit by blasters are vulnerable only to missiles or torpedoes. Often these are bonus objective targets, such as shield generators or communication towers. Blowing up these exceptionally well guarded targets will sometimes even complete a bonus mission that you didn’t know existed, so take them all out!

These two basic reminders can drag you through almost all of the space missions, earning you a hefty stack of Fleet Commendations. What do you spend them on…well that’s what I’ll be addressing in my next pro-tip.

For those of you PVPing their way to V60 Battlemaster you might know already that when you receive a BM bag from your daily/weekly quest it is labeled unique so you can not have more than one in your inventory at once. There is a way around this so you can save up your bags until you ding V60.

When you complete your quest close out the quest dialog box and the quest goes to “Pending” at the top right of your screen. You can keep doing this as long as you want, stacking up as many completed dailies as you can. There is one downfall to this however. If you have more than three pending quests you can not board your ship and you’re pretty much stuck on the Fleet. You can chain queue warzones, but you can’t go to Ilum.

Once hitting V60 you’ll be opening 10+ bags at once for all those awesome rewards.

If you’re sick and tired of waiting around and resting so your companion heals up, then this FORCE Junkies, SWTOR, Pro-Tip is just for you. When you mount up and summon your vehicle your companion is instantly healed. This tip is great for players who play a healing or dps role where their companion takes the brunt of the damage. By mounting up and immediately dismounting (as long as you “poof” onto your vehicle) your companion will be at full health.

If you are not yet high enough level or too broke to have a vehicle then dismissing and re-summoning your companion does the same thing, though this method takes just a bit longer.

Players attempting to go full light side or full dark side might be reluctant to make even one choice that differs, afraid those 50 LS or DS points might stay on their character’s permanent record forever. Others might have heard that there is a 10,000 point cap that makes it impossible to earn additional points, thus making Tier V unattainable if you have ever deviated from your path. Have no fear! Making the occasional choice of the reverse alignment should not affect your score in any significant way.

It is true there is a 10,000 point cap. However, each time you make a choice after that it simply deducts points from the opposite spectrum. This means that by making more choices of your alignment after reaching the cap, you are able to effectively erase all record of previous adverse choices. It is quite possible to reach 10,000 points by your mid-40′s, so as long as you stay near the light or dark path you should reach Tier V easily enough.

Quick tip today for those who might get frustrated by not having the Crew Skill missions that you want. When you board and exit your ship, the missions available to you are reshuffled and different ones are available. So if you see missions you don’t want and don’t feel like waiting for them to shuffle back in, just walk in and out of your ship and.. Voila! You will have a new set of missions to choose from.

Today’s SWTOR Force Junkies Pro-Tip is for all of you people out there that collect different sets of gear. Some max level players will often carry different sets of gear for PVP, Tanking, Healing, DPS or solo play and often enough they have to keep them in their inventory taking up a lot of space. In SWTOR there is a little trick that you might not have thought of: Use A Companion!

Find a companion that you don’t use and can wear the same type of gear you do and equip them with your second set of gear. So now when you need that set of gear you can just summon that companion and un-equip your gear! You no longer need to keep it in your inventory or cargo hold.

For those of you out there that have a security dongle or smart phone app, this SWTOR FORCE Junkies Pro-Tip is for you. On the Security Key Vendor you can find a Fleet Pass for 1,000 credits that allows you to quick-travel back to the Fleet. This item is a consumable and will disappear on use, so don’t cancel the action. Everyone should carry one of these for those times when your hyperdrive is a bit slow.

If you have a smart phone you can get this without even spending any money. Simply download the security app for your Android or Iphone and set up your account. Once finished, you will gain access to this vendor. Those of you who have purchased the collector’s edition should already have the dongle, so if you haven’t hooked it up yet, do it now!

Today’s pro-tip is for new players just getting tot he point in their character’s story where they get their own ship. Once you’re about to enter for the first time, take a look around the spaceport and find the vendor that sells ship parts. There are six different pieces you can purchase initially if you can afford them and you can equip them all by the time you’re level 17.

Now why would you want to do this? Well it’s simple. You now have access to the Space Combat Daily Quests. When you first get into your ship you have about three or four dailies that you can do that give you a fantastic boost in experience. The average player is somewhere between level 15 and 16 by the time you reach this point. If you do all the dailies you should be level 17 or higher once you are finished. The ship equipment that you purchase makes these quests easier and faster to complete.
