On Tuesday, BioWare released some detailed information on the restrictions that free-to-play players will face as opposed to subscription players when Star Wars: The Old Republic goes free to play in November. One part confused quite a few players specifically pertaining to subscription players equipping purple Artifact items. The English text read almost the same for the subscription model as the free-to-play model, which would have meant that subscription players would need to purchase an item from the Cartel Market in order to equip Artifact gear.
Good news, folks. The English text was just a typo, as some players predicated, and has since been corrected:

Hello everyone! The incorrect tooltip for Item Equipping on this page has been corrected to properly reflect that subscribers will not experience a change to their ability to equip Artifact quality items. We apologize for any confusion the error may have caused.
The tooltip in question now reads: “Equip all purple items they acquire, assuming they meet the in-game requirements (class, level, etc).” This means that for subscription players, there will be no restrictions whatsoever on items that can be equipped.
