SWTOR fans were treated yesterday with a video teaser hinting of a new world event headed our way. Late last night, that event, which is being called The Grand Acquisition Race, went live on the servers. Similar to the Rakghoul event, The Grand Acquisition Race was added very suddenly and discreetly, which is a world event approach quite unique to SWTOR. The event is a scavenger hunt, requiring players to do a little old-fashioned item hunting to please the goofy-looking members of the Chevin Conglomerate.

The first quest starts on Nar Shaddaa, in the Lower Promenade near the golden Hutt. Look for the giant holo-Chevin. After grabbing the initial quest, which starts the item hunt, you’ll receive a mail that sends you to your capital planet. Items for the scavenger hunt can be found on both planets. The quests can be completed by characters of all levels, but the character will need access to both Nar Shaddaa and their capital planet. From the sounds of it there are also a few bonus quests and special custscenes along the way.

Rewards for the event are found on an NPC near the wall across from the Chevin who grants the first quest. Among the rewards are some Legacy-bound level 50 blue quality weapons (blaster rifles and sniper rifles), a Sand People Bloodguard customizable armor set, a speeder, vanity pet, and some red Sparkle Powder that’s apparently good for parties. The event currency is called Tokens of Enrichment, and interestingly enough, they’re bind-on-equip this time around. Currency can also be found in boxes obtained during the event.
