Day 2 of Early Game Access is here, and with such, brings word and speculation of what is to come. While The Old Republic still isn’t officially released (December 20th is the official launch date), Bioware’s team is already hard at work to bring the next wave of updates. The crystal ball doesn’t offer much, and there aren’t enough coins in the world to have a fortune-teller machine tell us what is forthcoming.

James Ohlen, Game Director for The Old Republic, wrote an update on the SWTOR Community Blog containing what is next on the agenda for the development team. While he posted a large number of important tidbits, FORCE Junkies will be covering the finer points of his post as much as possible.

A strong emphasis in SWTOR has been placed on guilds, and as such, Mr. Ohlen has put a nice vision of the future in his post:

Guild Functionality – Guilds are important to the long term health of any MMORPG. We have a huge list of guild centric features. This will be an ongoing effort that will probably never end. Guild banks are the first thing we’ll be delivering in our plans for increased guild functionality. Eventually we even want to deliver on the promise of the long hinted at “Guild Capital Ships”.

Soon, we’ll be seeing guild banks to share resources cooperatively amongst guild members. This will assist lower levels in improving their crew skills and will also assist higher levels in crafting finer items for use amongst the guild.

Eventually, we’ll be seeing the fabled guild capital ships. While nothing has been confirmed or set in stone, the general idea is that it will work like a headquarters for a guild. There is rampant speculation as to what a capital ship would offer, but speculation is not truth. Once more information is presented in a concrete fashion, it will be presented to you by FORCE Junkies as soon as possible.

There is no definite date for any of the new features, including the guild bank and capital ship, but Mr. Ohlen assures us they will be in “the near future.”
